Welcome Back to Berkshire!

I am thrilled to be entering the 2014-2015 school year with you. With the new curriculum ahead of us and endless adventures, I am sure there will be a plethora of learning opportunities within the classroom to be shared by everyone. Bring your sense of curiosity and let the inquiry based lessons begin. It's going to be a wonderful journey for all.

If you don't know me, my name is Mrs. Konen. I have had the pleasure of teaching here at Berkshire for 16 years. I have earned a double major in Mathematics and Science. In addition, I have a masters in Health Education. I feel fortunate to be a part of this nurturing community, of staff, students and parents. I have two, amazing boys Nickolas (age 10) and Zachary (age 9). Lastly, I live in Northville will my husband John.

Some TIPS that HELP students continue their SUCCESS:

  • Make sure to get on your parents on the weekly distribution list. During the course of the 1st semester, weekly newsletters are sent home via email to interested parents. The updates possess valuable information for any student's success. Parents may request to be on the distributions list by emailing me at:
  1. Email Subject Line: needs student's first and last name as well as the HOUR that he/she has math.
  2. Email Body: should request being added to the newsletter contact list
  • Record daily assignments from the class board. Assignments are left up for an entire week. If absent it is the student's responsibility to record the missing assignments upon their return, using the board. I would suggest that students not only check the class board for assignments, but also call a friend in the class to confirm.

  • Remember to email me if questions or concerns. I check my email regularly and will respond within 48 hours. For faster results, please make an appointment to see me during lunch and/or recreation. Passes will be provided at that time and we can talk about whatever is on your mind. Contact via email at

  • Be well prepared on a daily basis. Bring your completed homework, sharpened pencils, binder, paper, blue or red pen and text book. Be in your set before the bell rings. Get focused, be ready to listen and share out. Your participation is key to a well-rounded, education.
